We help owner-managed firms fix what's broken and grow what's working

Most consulting firms hand you a slide deck and leave. We stay in the room until the numbers move. Based in Northern Ireland, Precision Guidance works with businesses turning over £500k to £15m who need a clear-eyed partner, not a motivational speaker.

Four stages, no filler

Every project follows the same skeleton. The details change depending on whether you need a cash-flow rescue or a three-year growth map, but the rhythm stays consistent.

1

Diagnostic week

We spend five days inside your business. We read the accounts, sit in on meetings, talk to your team, and watch where time actually goes. By Friday you get a written brief that names the two or three problems worth solving first.

2

Plan build

Over the next fortnight we draft an action plan with owners, timelines, and measurable targets. No 80-page reports. The plan fits on a single A3 sheet so everyone from the MD to the warehouse lead can follow it.

3

Implementation support

We join your weekly rhythm for 8 to 16 weeks. That means attending standups, reviewing dashboards, and having the uncomfortable conversations about what's slipping. We don't observe from the gallery.

4

Handover and review

When the targets are hit, or the new process is running without us, we hand over. Sixty days later we come back for a half-day review to check nothing has drifted.

Six areas where we make a measurable difference

Financial restructuring

Cash-flow modelling, covenant renegotiation, cost-base reduction. We've taken businesses from 90-day insolvency risk back to positive working capital inside a quarter.

Operational audit

We map your processes end-to-end, identify the bottlenecks costing you margin, and redesign workflows. Typical engagement length: six weeks.

Growth strategy

Market sizing, pricing analysis, channel evaluation. We help you decide where to put the next pound of investment and, just as important, where not to.

Management reporting

If your board pack takes three days to compile and nobody reads it, something is wrong. We build dashboards that surface the five numbers your leadership team actually needs each week.

Succession and exit planning

Whether you want to hand the business to the next generation or sell to a trade buyer within 24 months, we build the value case and clean up the balance sheet so the deal closes on your terms.

Interim leadership

Need a finance director for three months while you recruit? We place senior consultants in operational roles so the business keeps moving during transitions.

Things prospective clients usually ask

How much does a typical engagement cost?

A diagnostic week runs £3,500 plus VAT. Implementation support is priced by the week at rates between £1,800 and £2,600 depending on the seniority of consultant required. We quote fixed fees wherever possible so there are no surprise invoices.

Do you work with businesses outside Northern Ireland?

Yes. About a third of our clients are based in the Republic of Ireland or Great Britain. Remote work covers most of the analysis phase, though we prefer at least one on-site week during the diagnostic.

What size of company do you usually advise?

Our sweet spot is owner-managed businesses with annual turnover between £500k and £15m and teams of 10 to 120 people. We've worked with sole traders and with divisions of listed companies, but the mid-market is where we do our best work.

Can you replace our existing accountant or auditor?

We don't do statutory audit or tax compliance. We sit alongside your accountant, not in place of them. In practice we often improve the information flow between your management team and your accountant, which makes both sides more effective.

What happens if the engagement isn't delivering results?

Every engagement has a four-week checkpoint. If you feel the work isn't moving the needle, you can end the contract with two weeks' notice and you owe nothing beyond the hours already billed. We've had that conversation twice in 14 years.
